This seminar is required for those interested in volunteering for our agency. We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following positions:
On-Call / Enhanced Advocates: Involves carrying an on-call pager and answering the 24 hour crisis line during non-business hours. You may do any array of things which include listening to individuals, giving referrals, and/or sheltering a family in need.
This also involves carrying a cell phone which will receive calls from law enforcement as they are taking a domestic disturbance call. As an advocate you will go out to the scene and talk with the victim about his/her situation and his/her options. You will only go to the scene if the offender has been arrested and the location has been deemed safe.
