14th Annual Purses for a Purpose

The S.A.F.E. Center’s annual purse auction is set for Friday, April 6 and you won’t want to miss it. Purses for a Purpose is the local nonprofit’s largest fundraiser to grow and sustain their efforts to provide support and advocacy for those who have experienced dating, domestic, and sexual violence.

The cocktail attire event will feature a silent and live auction, buffet, wine pull, photo booth, and more. The event will be at the Younes Conference Center and will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The items being auctioned will include a variety of purses, backpacks, gift certificates, trips, and other packages donated by businesses, individuals, and even some celebrities. Around $50,000 was raised at last year’s auction.

“These funds help support our 24 hour services and also guarantee that the individual safety needs of our clients are met,” said Nikki Gausman, Executive Director of the S.A.F.E. Center.

Those who wish to attend Purses for a Purpose are required to reserve their seat ahead of time which can be accessed here. Registration is open now and will close April 4th. Seats are $50 a ticket or $500 for a 10 person table. Sponsorships are still available.

Guests are encouraged to bring a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet as this year’s silent auction will be processed completely through a mobile bidding platform. Live auction items will be sold by Auctioneer Rick Shoemaker. Staff will be available for guidance with mobile bidding.

In recognition of The S.A.F.E. Center’s 40th Anniversary this year, the Board of Directors will be selling an Indulge card featuring special select discounts from seven local businesses.  After Purses for a Purpose, these business size cards will be offered throughout the year and funds generated from the sales will benefit The Center’s endowment fund to ensure services are available for many years to come.
